The 2016 Porsche Macan and the 2016 Volvo XC60 are both premium crossover sport utility vehicles. That much is true, but you’ll find that there are some big differences between these two models. See for yourself how they compare below.
When it comes down to power and performance, you’ll notice a big difference between these two European sport utility vehicles. Take a look:
Volvo XC70: The Volvo gets a 2.0L turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine in the base configuration that produces 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The XC60 T5 gets a turbocharged 2.5L five-cylinder that produces 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, while the T6 AWD gets a turbo 3.0L six-cylinder that makes 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0 to 60 mph time of only 6.2 seconds. The T6 AWD—the only all-wheel drive model—is rated at 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway.
Porsche Macan: The Macan starts with a 3.0L turbocharged V6 that cranks out 340 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque; that’s good enough to get from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The Macan Turbo comes with a turbocharged 3.6L V6 that produces 400 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, which results in a 0 to 60 mph time of only 4.4 seconds. Both models get a 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway based on EPA estimate and all-wheel drive is standard.
The Macan offers more performance with equal fuel economy when compared to the Volvo XC60. The Macan can also tow up to 4,409 pounds, while the XC60 can only pull up to 3,500 pounds.
Both of these vehicles come well equipped in all configurations. One thing that the Macan offers standard but is missing from the Volvo is leather upholstery. You’ll find both come equipped with power adjustable seating, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, and much more.
